PETA MURPHY MP
MEMBER FOR DUNKLEY
FEDERAL SUPPORT WELCOMED TO UPGRADE HALL RD
The Federal Government’s recent announcement to support the Victorian Government’s duplication of Hall Road from McCormicks Road to Cranbourne-Frankston Road is welcomed.
Federal Member for Dunkley, Peta Murphy MP said the announcement to chip in half of the $169 million is a good result for the local community.
“This project, championed by State Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny MP, will reduce congestion and get people home sooner” Ms Murphy said.
“Local residents have been contacting me about the importance of this local project, it is badly needed and will make a real difference. I recently wrote to the federal Minister for Infrastructure requesting federal funding for improvements to Hall Road.”
The works will include upgrades to key intersections, removal of two roundabouts, traffic signalling and shared user paths for pedestrians and cyclists.
The Federal Government’s road announcements have recently been called into question following a promise to upgrade Ballarto Rd 20 months ago where $30 million was promised and still nothing has been delivered.
The Morrison Government’s latest infrastructure announcement comes barely a week after figures were released showing that the Government spent $1.7 billion less on road and rail projects than they promised at last year’s Budget.
On average, the Morrison Government underspends on their Budget promises by over $1.2 billion a year
“Australians need jobs now. It is essential that these latest funding promises are delivered now, not years down the line.”
