LOCAL RADIO STATION GETS FUNDING BOOST

Local radio station RPPFM has purchased a brand-new social media kit thanks to $17,360 in funding from the State Government’s 2020 Multicultural Media Grants Program.

The new Blackmagic 4k cinema cameras, lenses and mixing gear will allow the station to expand their reach further into Frankston and on the Mornington Peninsula and increase their multicultural media.

Federal Member for Dunkley, Peta Murphy MP and State Member for Frankston, Paul Edbrooke MP recently met with RPPFM President Peter Susovich to view and test the new equipment.

“South East Melbourne has such a rich and vibrant culture. This new equipment will assist RPPFM to include more multicultural groups in their programming” Ms Murphy said.

“With the reduction of local print media in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, it’s terrific to see local radio and social media outlets, like RPPFM, fill the gaps and continue to keep us well informed.”

“This new equipment will take the station to a new level in streaming and promoting inclusion and diversity in our community” Mr Edbrooke said.

“The Andrews Labor Government is continuing to support local media outlets especially as we begin to recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19”.

Both Peta Murphy MP and Paul Edbrooke MP supported RPPFM’s application for the funding.

The 2020 Multicultural Media Grants Program provided grants to enable multicultural and multilingual media outlets operating in Victoria to purchase or upgrade their equipment.
