NEW SHADE TO PROTECT KIDS DURING SUMMER
Lyrebird Community Centre in Carrum Downs is installing new shade to protect childcare participants thanks to $10,000 in funding from the Dunkley Stronger Communities Programme.
The funding has purchased new protective awnings and natural shade to create a sun-safe outdoor play area for kids to enjoy and increase the available space to run activities and programs.
Federal Member for Dunkley, Peta Murphy MP recently visited the childcare centre at Lyrebird Community Centre to see firsthand the benefits that the new shade is providing.
“Children learn so much in their early years, this funding will allow them to engage in more outdoor play which is beneficial to their mental and physical wellbeing” Ms Murphy said.
“Carrum Downs, Sandhurst and Skye have a large number of families with pre-school aged children. I’m very proud to support our community with this funding.
The Dunkley Stronger Communities Programme delivers funding to local groups for capital works that improve community participation and contribute to vibrant and viable communities.
