BUILDING A NEW REGIONAL PARK FOR CARRUM DOWNS

An Albanese Labor Government will transform the Sandfield Reserve into a vibrant, family friendly regional park with new facilities to cater to a wider variety of users.

Labor’s investment of $1.3 million will focus on delivering keys upgrades of Sandfield Reserve in Carrum Downs.

These upgrades will also benefit local schools, including neighbouring Rowellyn Park Primary School, who use the facilities on a semi-regular basis.Key projects include an upgraded playground, new fitness station and expansion of the existing skate park to cater for a broader range of skills.

Further upgrades include improved seating, paths, shade, lighting and significant tree planting. There will also be a new multiuse court, climbing wall, football posts and BBQ facilities.

The new regional park will benefit the growing suburbs of Carrum Downs, Sandhurst and Skye and attract young families from across the Frankston Local Government Area.

The upgrade of Sandfield Reserve has been identified as a priority project for Frankston City Council.

Today’s announcement is a commitment to partner with the Council to deliver more inclusive, accessible facilities to meet the future demand of the community.

What is needed is a Commonwealth Government ready to partner with the local community in delivering this much-needed upgrade. An Albanese Labor Government will do just that.

Comments attributable to Richard Marles, Deputy Leader of the Labor Party:

“These are key upgrades which will bring together the local Frankston Community.

“Victorians have battled through a lot in the past couple of years, we’re ready to get out and into the community, and Labor wants to invest in places like Sandfield Reserve to make sure they have the best possible facilities- be it paths, shades, lighting and a multiuse court- these are upgrades which make it all the more enjoyable, but also, practical, modern and importantly safe.”

Comments attributable to Peta Murphy, Member for Dunkley :

‘I’m pleased to be able to commit to this project if Labor wins the election this May which will bring the Carrum Downs and surrounding communities together in such an inclusive space.’

'The new Carrum Downs Regional Park will benefit young families in Carrum Downs, Sandhurst, Skye and from across the Dunkley Electorate and cater for future demand.’
