Federal Member for Dunkley, Peta Murphy MP, recently visited the Frankston Ladies Choir to congratulate members on their successful Stronger Communities Grant application. The $4,200 Stronger Communities Grant funded by the Federal Government, has enabled the choir to purchase new state-of-the-art recording equipment.

Since its inception in 1976, the Frankston Ladies Choir has become one of the most versatile choirs in the region. The choir are best known for their lively performances at Frankston’s citizenship ceremonies and in local aged care facilities. They have also performed at a range of community events including the Frankston Festival of Lights.

"Having enjoyed the choir's performances on numerous occasions, I can attest to the joy they bring to our community. Their melodies and the warmth of their camaraderie is wonderful to witness." said Federal Member for Dunkley, Peta Murphy MP.

In the past, the choir spent significant amounts of time fundraising to record their CDs and stage their performances. This grant will alleviate the strain on their members and facilitate the production of superior quality content.

Ms Murphy said, “The Stronger Communities Programme is about helping community-run organisations continue their amazing contributions to our local area. The funding is a huge boost to our smaller organisations, and I can’t wait to see (and hear!) how the Frankston Ladies Choir benefits from their grant.”

The Frankston Ladies Choir is one of many community organisations in Dunkley who are recipients of the latest round of the Stronger Communities Programme.
