Member for Dunkley

Staff and students at David Scott School in Frankston will benefit from the demolition of an existing building and the construction of a new two-storey learning centre, adjacent outdoor learning areas and student amenities, which will improve student educational outcomes.

Member for Dunkley Peta Murphy said work on the project will be delivered with support of Australian Government funding of $1,300,000 through the Capital Grants Program.

“These new facilities will provide school staff, teachers and students at David Scott School with better, more modern spaces in which to work, teach and learn,” Ms Murphy said.

“The Australian Government is committed to providing all schools with appropriate funding so that all students, including those at David Scott School, get the best possible education.”

This funding is in addition to $2,000,000 recently committed by Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke MP.

“This is an amazing opportunity to ensure that the students and staff at the David Scott School benefit from facilities that reflect the educational outcomes provided at this school,” Mr Edbrooke said.

“The Andrews Labor State Government and Albanese Labor Federal Government are backing students in Frankston who are the future of our community with $3,300,000. All young people deserve the opportunity to reach their potential in our community and now the state and federal governments are teaming up to ensure that they can,”.

Ms Murphy said the new facilities will benefit the students currently at David Scott School, as well as the many students who will follow in future years.

“The teachers, staff and students at David Scott School have built a strong and positive school community and these new facilities will further enhance our local educational opportunities,” Ms Murphy said.

“Our Government strongly believes in providing the best possible resources so that local students can realise their potential and develop the skills they need to go on to further study or to find a job.

“I congratulate David Scott School on their successful grant application and look forward to seeing the positive impact these new facilities will have on the school community.”
